Introduction to the Itinerary

Qixingtan

Qixingtan is the only county-level scenic area in Hualien County, connecting Taroko National Park, the East Coast, and the Hualien Rift Valley. The bay here, resembling a clear blue crescent moon, is not a pond, but a pristine coastal area. The azure seawater, calm waves, clean pebble beach, and fishing boats all reveal the pure beauty of a small fishing village.

Taroko National Park

Taroko National Park is Taiwan's fourth established national park, renowned for its majestic and nearly vertical marble gorge landscape.

►Shakadang Trail & Swallow Grotto Trail

The Shakadang Trail is 4.4 kilometers long, taking about two hours for a one-way walk. The Swallow Grotto Trail is the most spectacular part of the Taroko Gorge, and the original Central Cross-Island Highway was built along the cliffs of this gorge. Due to its popularity and the risk of falling rocks, visitors are required to wear safety helmets for safety reasons.

►Baiyang Trail & Shuilian Cave

Baiyang Trail, originally constructed as a road for Taiwan Power Company, is the trail with the most wildlife and tunnels in Taroko National Park. Along the way, you will pass through eight tunnels, and the trail offers views of cliffs and flowing water. Further into the trail is Shuilian Cave, known for its unique landscape formed by water flowing down the cliffs due to fractured geological conditions.

►Qingshui Cliffs

Revered as Taiwan's most beautiful road, it is accessible only by car. The winding and challenging road provides breathtaking views of cliffs, steep drops, and the Pacific Ocean, making it a popular destination for European and American tourists who rent cars to visit.

►Dongdamen Night Market

Hualien's most famous night market, featuring at least 400 stalls, offers a variety of hidden gems in Hualien cuisine.
