Yilan Guishan Island|Whale Watching Tou
The waters near Turtle Island are shallow and many schools of fish gather here. This makes Turtle Island one of the three major fishing grounds in Taiwan and a spot where a large number of whales and dolphins also appear. There are up to 17 different species and their quantity is considerable, mainly including spinner dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, small toothed whales, and false killer whales.
The best season for whale watching is from April to the end of September. You can take a whale watching boat to and from Guishan Island and embark on a summer sea adventure. Search for the location of the whales and dolphins on the blue highway, and eagerly await the appearance of these sea creatures,They will jump out of the sea one after another, sometimes playfully hiding from passing fishing boats. Their cute appearance and graceful posture will definitely surprise people!
There are stunning gradient seawater, sea hot springs caused by volcanic topography, resulting in changes in some seawater colors, with layers of deep and shallow colors overlapping. The milky blue color is also known as the Milk Sea and some people even say it looks like milk spilled by God, which is incredibly romantic and dreamy.
Most whale watching trips also include touring around the island, experiencing the rich geological landscape and mysterious natural phenomena of Turtle Island, including underwater hot springs, Turtle Island sulphur smoke, the dancing tail of the spirit turtle, glasses hole, Turtle Rock cliff, legend of turtle eggs, Turtle Mountain sunrise, and the God turtle wearing a hat, collectively known as the "Eight Scenic Spots of Turtle Island".
